Justin Roxo

Artist & Teacher

I am an experienced art educator and artist with a passion for creativity and teaching. I graduated from Savannah College of Art & Design in 2009 with a BFA in Film & Television and worked in the film industry for nearly a decade before transitioning to teaching in 2013. In 2018, I earned an MFA in Studio Art from Stony Brook University, where I also taught Digital Art to undergraduates.

I have taught visual arts and digital media in various schools, including:

  • NEAAT (2018-2019) in Elizabeth City, NC.

  • Millbrook Magnet High School (2019-2022) in Raleigh, NC.

  • Durham School of the Arts (2022-Present) in Durham, NC.

At Durham School of the Arts, I lead the Adobe Pathway program, teaching:

  • Digital Literacy (8th grade)

  • Adobe Visual Design (Grades 9-12): Photoshop & Illustrator certification

  • Adobe Visual Design II (Grades 10-12): InDesign certification

  • Adobe Video Design (Grades 10-12): Premiere certification

  • CTE Advanced Studies (12th grade): Career exploration and portfolio development

I also coordinate the annual Artist Career Fair, connecting students with local artists, colleges, and resources to prepare for creative careers. Outside of school, I teach traditional painting and drawing to middle school students at Champion Academy in Morrisville, NC, and remain dedicated to helping students develop their artistic skills, gain industry knowledge, and prepare for successful futures in the arts.
