Create Your Own Logo

Note: You are applying for an upcoming job and need to design a logo. 

You will design a logo that represents a career interest of your choice. Your logo should be simple yet impactful, combining two icons or symbols to convey specific characteristics of your chosen profession. This logo will later be used for your signature in Outlook.

Instructions:

• Brainstorm with a Word Web

  • Start by identifying two main ideas or symbols that you want to combine in your logo. These could be concepts, objects, or values that represent your chosen theme or career.

  • Create a word web by placing these two ideas in the center and brainstorming related words, shapes, or symbols that connect to them.

  • Draw lines expanding outwards that describe your two ideas using adjectives.  Then draw lines that expand from their that are specific and visual.

• Sketch and Select Your Best Design

  • Draw at least 5 different logo designs inspired by your word web.

  • As you sketch, aim to combine the two ideas creatively, improving on each version.

  • Choose your favorite design from your sketches to develop further in Illustrator.

• Build Your Logo in Illustrator

  • Create a new document that is 1000px by 1000px wide.  Recreate your chosen sketch in Adobe Illustrator using only black and white. This ensures your logo works well without relying on color.

• Create a Colored Version

  • After finalizing the black-and-white version, duplicate it and create a version with color.

  • Experiment with different color palettes, ensuring your logo works across various backgrounds.

• Test on Different Backgrounds

  • Make sure your logo looks effective on both light and dark backgrounds, including black. Adjust colors or add strokes if needed to maintain legibility.

• Save and Export

  • Save your work as an Adobe Illustrator (.AI) file for future edits.

  • Export the final logo as a .PNG file, which can be used for emails and other digital formats.

  • Make sure to place your Logo in this shared folder.Links to an external site.

 

How to export your logo:

1. make sure that no layers are locked

2. Select your logo (click and drag) 

3. File>Export>Export Selection

4. Uncheck "Create Sub-Folders"

5. Make sure "type" is set to: .PNG

6. Choose File Location

7. Click "Export"

8. Confirm default options (click "OK")
