Hot Sauce Label Design
You and your classmates will be divided into one of 4 groups (listed below). Each group will be assigned a unique art style to incorporate into designing hot sauce labels. From researching Mexican culture to brainstorming flavor combinations, you'll collaborate to craft labels that reflect your chosen art style and capture the spirit of Mexico.

Hot Sauce Moodboard
Meet with your teammates to research Mexican culture and your assigned art style. In this assignment, your group will create a copy of this moodboardLinks to an external site. filled with images, colors, and symbols that represents both Mexico and your chosen art style. Google search for inspiration for your hot sauce label design. Think about what makes your art style unique and how you can incorporate elements of Mexican culture into your moodboard. Be prepared to share your moodboard with the class and explain how it influenced your design choices.

Front Label Artwork
For this assignment, you'll create the artwork for your hot sauce label using Adobe Illustrator and answer three reflection questions in a Google Doc (see below). Embrace Central American culture in your design while accurately reflecting the chosen art style. Begin by researching Central American motifs and colors for inspiration. Sketch out your ideas and plan the composition, paying close attention to lighting, texture, and accuracy to the art style. Create clean vector illustrations in Illustrator, focusing on capturing the essence of Central American culture and embracing the chosen art style. Add depth and dimension to your artwork with shading, highlights, and texture. Review and refine your design, ensuring consistency and visual impact. Finally, export your artwork as an .SVG file for submission on Canvas, making sure to include any necessary explanations about your design choices.

In this assignment, you will craft custom lettering in Adobe Illustrator with consistency in skew, baseline, vertical scale, and tracking throughout the logo's name. Use the "center template" file from this shared folderLinks to an external site. to start your project. Your text will fit alongside or overlap your illustration. Start by researching diverse lettering styles for inspiration, and observing examples from logos and branding. Sketch out your ideas, emphasizing the desired mood and style. Utilize Adobe Illustrator to establish a grid for precise alignment and spacing. Construct each letter using basic shapes, ensuring uniformity in skew, baseline, and vertical scale. Refine your lettering, focusing on detail and coherence. Adjust tracking to achieve balanced spacing between letters. Evaluate your design for consistency and visual appeal, refining as necessary.
